fall series

For this series, I am mimicking Edward Weston's still life's. In total, I photographed six different peppers since I wanted as much variety possible in textures, shapes (and shadows that I create with light). My approach was to set up the pepper at a certain angle, then to turn on my camera and move around the pepper and camera until I find an angle I really like and one that is interesting. Then I turn on my lights and move them around-then when I find the perfect shot I take it, then continue on casting shadows and photographing.

portraits

For this series, we photographed portraits of people, but also had to incorporate other elements in the photo itself-like shadows or trees. As you can see, almost every picture of mine ties together both the person and the beautiful shadows, and also many trees plus other elements of nature. My approach for this series was to walk behind or above the subject, and try to see what elements I could possibly photograph that nicely add to the subject. Editing the pictures in black and white really helped the shadows and the subject together come to life and really pop.
