portraits

For this series, we photographed portraits of people, but also had to incorporate other elements in the photo itself-like shadows or trees. As you can see, almost every picture of mine ties together both the person and the beautiful shadows, and also many trees plus other elements of nature. My approach for this series was to walk behind or above the subject, and try to see what elements I could possibly photograph that nicely add to the subject. Editing the pictures in black and white really helped the shadows and the subject together come to life and really pop.

  1. I really like how the shadows and the person in the shots are unified. The natural background emphasises the way you captured the realistic person in the photos. Great work!

  4. Great backgrounds, great use of black and white, and great subject. I like how your subject wasn't always facing the camera and had their back turned in some pictures and we got a side view in others. Great job!

  5. I really like the beautiful textures, and the different shadows in all of your photos. I really like how you put the photos in black and white because it makes the subject and the shadows stand out. I really like your seventh photo because the different textures and shadows help makes the subject stand out. Overall, great job on all of your photos!

  6. I really like these photos, and think that they are really strong. However I think that the subject is coming a little bit lost within the photos. I found myself paying more attention to the background rather than the person. But again, these photos are very strong! Good Job!
