fall series

For this series, I am mimicking Edward Weston's still life's. In total, I photographed six different peppers since I wanted as much variety possible in textures, shapes (and shadows that I create with light). My approach was to set up the pepper at a certain angle, then to turn on my camera and move around the pepper and camera until I find an angle I really like and one that is interesting. Then I turn on my lights and move them around-then when I find the perfect shot I take it, then continue on casting shadows and photographing.

  1. I really like your photos because the black and white tint highlights the shape of the vegetables in a really nice way. Great work!

  2. I love the use of shadows in your photographs they bring out so much out of the peppers. The distance, the lack of color, the angle of the lighting, it all really brings out the pepper's abnormal shape. This is a very strong set of photos

  3. The way the light is placed in these photos is very nice. The detail in the peppers is also very nice

  4. I really like lighting and staging in all of these photos. There is a nice consistency within all of them. These are overall very balanced and strong! Good Job!

  5. I think you did a great job on your first set trying to mimic the photography style of Edward Weston. I really love the different shadows on the peppers from the lighting in your photos. My favorite photos of yours are the peppers where the background is dark. The dark background with the shadows, really helps bring out the peppers and their unique shapes. I really life your seventh photo because the background is super dark, making the pepper stand out. Great job on all of your photos!
