fall series three

For this series, I tried to darken the photos to give it a more mysterious feel as well as cropping the photo so that the foreground and the background don't take away from the mushroom itself. I also tried to get up close to the mushroom so I could really capture the beautiful texture as well as having the mystery feeling to it. My approach was to cast different shadows across the mushroom while photographing the mushroom at every possibly angle.

  1. I love these images! The darker, film noir tones in these are awesome. I kept thinking of Alice and Wonderland while looking at this set. The cropping is really good and you have improved a lot with this set. Great work!

  2. I think you did a great job on your third set trying to mimic the photography style of Edward Weston. I really like how you darkened the photos to make the mushrooms stand out. I also think that you did a great job cropping the photo so that the foreground and background do not take away from the subject. I love how you took photos of the mushroom’s gills and captured the amazing texture of the mushroom. I really like your first photo because the dark background makes the mushroom and gills stand out and show its unique shape and texture. Great job on all of your photos!

  4. wow! these photos of mushrooms are really great! i love the texture of the underside of the top and how it looks. Really really really pretty, i like the black and white. It almost looks like a tree stump, and gives the mushroom the appearance of being a landscape.

  5. Think this is your strongest set of photos yet. I think you did a really great job of position the camera and lights to accent ever aspect of the mushroom and capture much more detail. This is one of my favorite sets as well! Great job Rosie!
